Meet Me

Susy W Chen, 陈淑茜

Born and raised in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia, of Chinese ethnicity. Second of four siblings, I have two sisters and a brother. Went to school when I was 2.5 years old at Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in Medan. Moved to Wiyata Dharma a year later and stayed until I finished high school in June of 2000.

Learned English since my early years, and music since I was 7 from Yamaha Music School. Left Indonesia to go to college in KL, Malaysia in August 2000. Spent 4 years at APIIT College and completed my bachelor of science honours degree in computing/IT in June 2004. Graduated top of the school and prized outstanding student merit in December 2004 convocation.

Worked for a joint venture IS company, moving through various roles since January 2005 and have been always working full time since. My professional experience and interest are in IS project management and business analysis.

Traveled a little bit around Southeast Asia, Australia, China and the US during the time I lived in Malaysia. Became Australian Permanent Resident in October 2008. Made an important decision to move on to the next chapter of my life in early 2009. Left Malaysia in March 2009 and headed to Vancouver, Canada, where I live now and for the next little while.

I absolutely love traveling and seeing places, great seafood, especially fresh crustaceans.

I have a good deal of interest in music; I play piano and electone, and completed 8 grades of Yamaha electone examinations.

I am grateful for growing up in a very close knit family with strong values and loving parents, for the upbringing, education, and childhood experience that my parents have given to us. I’m also thankful for the friends I’ve made along the way.

I speak several languages — English, Indonesian, Fujian dialect, Chinese Mandarin, and Malay.

Hair color: black. Eye color: dark brown.

I can’t stand green onions, and I’m not fond of onions in general.

My favorite colors are pink and white. I also like red and light pastel colors such as light orange, green, purple and blue.

My favorite perfume of all time is Nina Ricci — Nina and Love in Paris Peony Flower.

My favorite movie genre are romantic drama and romantic comedy.

I crack up easily and laugh too much, sometimes.
