SIEM REAP

Siem Reap, the capital city of Siem Reap province of Cambodia, is home to the World Heritage Site, Angkor Wat.

We visited Siem Reap in early October 2008 for 4 days. We visited the floating village and went on the boat all the way to the mouth of Lake Tonle Sap, the largest lake in South East Asia that separates Siem Reap from Pnom Penh, the capital city of Cambodia. It was rainy season then, and we were told that the lake would become dry and muddy during the dry season.

Angkor Tohm, Angkor Wat and many of other smaller Buddhist temples are of outstanding tourism interest.

Siem Reap offers great food at very reasonable prices, with USD commonly used more so than the local Riel currency. A common means of getting around is the tuk-tuk. Most vendors and service providers around Siem Reap are very honest and tourists can be almost at all peace that they will not get ripped off.
