BEIJING
Beijing, or 北京 in Chinese, is the capital city of China (People’s Republic of China). It is historical with many landmarks that signify and preserve the Chinese culture, architecture, legends, and history since the early days.
I visited Beijing on a one-month work trip in April/May of 2006. March and April are perfect time to visit Beijing as weather is mild and sky is blue. Towards middle of May temperature starts to rise and it could get very dry.
During my month stay in Beijing, I stayed around the Guo Mao business district and visited landmarks such as The Great Wall of China (you can visit this world significant architecture from many parts of the city, so according to your preference and time in hand, make sure you do a research as to where you want to start your journey of sightseeing the Great Wall), Tian Tan, Forbidden City, Yu He Yuan, Beijing Zoo, Lao Bei Jing (Old Beijing), Wang Fu Jing, and Tiananmen Square.
Be sure to allocate your whole day to tour many of the significant places of interest. The Forbidden City (the palace of China Dynasty era), Tian Tan, Yu He Yuan, and the Great Wall/Old Beijing EACH easily takes up an entire day if you’re into exploring history and what these places once represented.
The Beijing Duck is a must try. I personally favor Pekingese style of Chinese cooking, albeit a little oily in general. Try riding the Huang Bao Che (trishaw). Korean BBQ food is almost everywhere to be found, and it is GOOD.
