KUALA LUMPUR (KL)

Kuala Lumpur, or KL for short, is the capital city of Malaysia with population of approximately 1.8 million people. The weather in KL is generally hot (in the 30 degrees Celcius range up to 34) and humid all year round. There’s plenty of sunshine and rain throughout the year, with quite frequent heavy downpours.

I went to college for 4 years in KL, and continued to live on while working as an IS (Information Solutions) Professional for close to 5 years. KL is undoubtedly a second home to me.

KOTA KINABALU (KK), SABAH

Kota Kinabalu, or KK for short, is the capital of Sabah, a state of Malaysia located on Borneo island. KK is famous for its Mount Kinabalu, the tallest mountain in the Malay Archipelago.

PULAU PINANG

Penang, or Pulau Pinang (meaning the island of Pinang) is located on the northwest of Malay Peninsula. It is often referred to as Pearl of The Orient.

Due to its proximity to Medan, my hometown, and the fact that Fujian dialect is commonly spoken in Penang (as it is in Medan), my most recent trip to Penang in June of 2007 was my 5th time.

Several famous attractions are Georgetown where you can get a variety of local food from hawker vendors, Gurney, Kek Lok Si temple, Bukit Bendera, Feringghi Beach, etc.

MALACCA

Malacca, or Melaka in Malay, is a historical state in Malay Peninsula.

Some attractions include the Christ Church, A’Famosa Animal World, and Jonker Street.
